To ex members of the British army or Marines, whats your view on the North of Ireland?

I mean as a whole especially Belfast (my home town) have you bitter memories? did you hate the people the place did you distinguish between Catholic and Protestant? I know you were sent there to do a job and i know one bad thing in a foreign country happening to you can taint your perception of a whole country (i got the shi't kicked out of me in Scotland and i wont go back there again) To tell you the truth i love Belfast, i was born here hopefully i'll die here to be buried facing Blacks mountain. Just so you know i'm not a member of anything i've never been arrested for anything and i've never hurt anybody and hopefully never will and my missus is English but i let her sleep in the coal house where she belongs. I'm sure you all know the Joe soap and Mickey Mouse routine. So what was your final thought as you left the North for good old blighty?
