How do I sew my own clothes?

I'm tall, so not everything fits me, and I want to make some really cute shirts. I got a sewing machine last christmas, but I never really use it. I was watching project runway and it's so inspiring! I love the things they make! I have basic knowledge of how to sew (I sewed a quilt before, turned out really cool) but I don't know how to sew clothes. Can anyone help me?
