What compels a man to not want to partake in his child/s wellbeing and development?

I mean seriously, I love being a parent and cannot go a day without seeing my son, no matter what...how can men be so selfish and n choose not to be involved....well some men, I know a handful of good fathers out there...the rest hmmmm...
