What should I do in this situation?

I need to do a project for the National History Day. This year everyone must pick a historical figure and write about what they have accomplished. I have narrowed it down to 2 choices Harvey Milk and Catherine the Great of Russia. I would do Harvey Milk without hesitation but almost everyone in my cl doesn't like me and umes that I'm gay (wrong, I'm bi, haha!) and Harvey Milk would remove everyone's doubt. What do you guys think I should do?
